  • David Bell 1822 Scotland, Ireland, MD, TN  new
    David Bell was born about 1785 in Scotland and wore kilts while tending his father's sheep on the hillsides. There is a small county on the border of Scotland and England that many reported Bell's were living, near Berkshire, England. He married Sarah Jane Marshall about 1808. They had 8 children: Henry who married Jane Watters, Baltimore, MD; Elisabeth (c. 1811) who married Robert Morrison; Lydia, James, John m. Martha Prescott; Sarah; Anne Jane m. Joseph McKee; and David c. 1822 who married Sarah Alice McKeldin, Baltimore, MD. David took his family to north Ireland and lived in Causnaugh, parish of Loughgall, County Armagh, Ireland where there were a number of families related. Sons Henry and young David traveled to Baltimore, MD around 1830. Henry sold real estate, and it was up to David and brother-in-law, Rev. Joseph McKee to find lands available in North Carolina and Tennesee. Though listed as a mason in 1850 in Baltimore, David became a Doctor, and moved to Unicoi, TN by 1860 with his wife and 4 children: Sarah, Eddie, David and Jane.

    gr grandfathers name was Joseph Pasquale Bellino and his wife I believe it to be Antionette. My grgr grandparents came from Italy to Ellis Island in around 1901-1904 they had one son that came with them that was Frank and Louis was born here in NY. From what I understand our name used to be Bellini but when arriving here the name was changed to Bellino do to the way my gr grandfather signed his name. They settled in Harlem, NY 125th street then to Yonkers and then Jersey City,NJ. Frank Bellino ran for mayor in the late 30's early 40's in Jersey City I also learned of one son Ray Bellino who is now a retired Hudson County Detective. Louis Bellino married Laura Contini who was from Jersey City they had 5 children. Joseph, Louis, Anthony, Antionette, Robert they lived on Gates Ave.

They immigrated to Frank, Russia, near the Volga River. They later migrated to several regions closer to the Black Sea. John Edward "La 'suer" Lesser, Sr. & Margurette Katherinia Greinwald were married January 1, 1871 in Frank, Russia. They immigrated to the USA December 1878 with four of their children: Margarite "Maggie" Hagler Katherine "Kate" Cook Mary Lesser Catherine Margaret Heizer They lived in Nebraska, Michigan, Calfiornia, Oregon & Washington. Their other children were born in the USA. They had 11 children: Four listed above. Anna Lesser Barth John Edward Lesser, Jr. Elizabeth Lesser Lyda Blanche Lesser Foster Beulah Lesser Metcalf Leah Lesser Paulson Jacob "Jake" Ben Lesser Sarah Lesser John's parents were: Valinti Lesser & Martlena Wagner Lesser. He then cut half of his hand off, only part of a thumb was left. After healing, he could cut more shingles as his hand wasn't in the way. They them moved to Kosmos whre Carl and Bob were born. (Kosmos is now under water from the Dam) They then moved to Glenoma where Kenneth was born. They bought 40 acres of land, three miles out in Rainey Valley where Margarett and Chuck were born. They cleared part of the land and sold timber to a sawmill. They started picking Fern(made pretty good money)with all the boys working. Lydia Blanch Lesser came west with her family because her father wanted her to go to college and study Old Bones. She worked in a bakery in Portland then became a housewife and mother after marrying Charles L. Foster. She was one of the best cooks in Raney Valley. Rank: Private Unit Staff: Base Hospital Company: Medical Department Detachment Eugene, Sr. was 43 yrs. old when he married Mattie who was 21 yrs. old. He owned a home on Norah Street in Adrian, Emanuel County, Georgia. Occupation: District Constable. Eugene Curry, Sr. died June 13, 1928 in Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia. Mattie Lee Hadden was born May 1, 1900 in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia. Her mother died in childbirth & her father was killed when she was about 2 mos. old. One of her parents was full blood Cherokee Indian. (Haven't been able to locate my Indian heritage) Mattie went to live her Grandmother Hadden & her two older brothers. Her grandmother was calling her two brothers from the field, because a storm was coming, when she was struck in the head by lighting & killed. Mattie was about 11 yrs. old at that time. She went to live in an orphanage in Macon, Georgia where she was adopted by the Allen Family when she was close to her teen years. She continued to visit with her brothers over the years. Brothers names: Ernest & Author Turner. Don't know if Turner was their adopted name or if they had a different father. They had three children: Mattie Frances Curry Foster Laird Willie Ruth Curry Hedbrug Eugene Laffette, Jr. Eugene Curry, Sr. Mattie married again to Rufus Powell and they had one child, Elizabeth "Lola" Mae Powell Williams. These records were copied from the books of the Friends (Quakers) Monthly Meeting of Unity, Waldo County, Maine. They include the names, places of residence, and ages of the members of the Unity Monthly Meeting of April 1863. The original books are in the possession of the Maine Historical Society in Portland, Maine. The town of Unity was established in 1804.
