1894 Michigan State Census
This document lists the names by ward, township, and county of
United States Soldiers of the Civil War Residing in Michigan, June
1, 1894. The information was extracted from the 1894 Michigan
State Census. Since the 1890 federal census was destroyed in a
fire, researchers can use this list of names as an additional tool
beyond the census, to document their ancestors whereabouts during
the 1890's. There are approximately 50,000 names provided.

Ledger of Mrs. Ulessus Kennedy
The records contained here occurred within or around the Allegany
Reservation located in Cattaraugus County, New York., and were
recorded in an old ledger owned by Mrs. Ulessus Kennedy. The
records in this manuscript cover the years of 1880-1947 and
consist primarily of death records, but also include birth,
marriage and will records. It cannot be ascertained whether all
individuals mentioned in this manuscript were Native American or
not. But clearly a large portion of those are.
Ghost Town Project Web Sites
What is meant by "Ghost Town"? Your first thought would probably be
that deserted old western town with dust and sagebrush blowing
through town. A shutter flapping in the wind and no one around. But
it could be that group of old buildings down the road. You know, the
ones that are overgrown with weeds, brush and trees. And just out
from them that old house or church that has long ago seen it last
visitor. This too could be a "Ghost Town." It can be a town or
community that was a thriving commercial center or largely
populated, but has either been abandoned or diminished greatly from
what it once was during it's "Boom Days". Let's look at the classes
of "Ghost Towns".
There are six classes of "Ghost Towns", but we are mainly concerned
with the first four.
-
Scattered rubble or site where nature has
reclaimed the land.
-
Roofless buildings or partially demolished
buildings.
-
Boarded up or abandoned buildings, no population.
-
A community with many abandoned buildings and a
small population of residents.
-
Historic community or town, functional, but much
smaller than in its boom years.
-
A restored town, state park, or replica of an old
town, community or fort.
